Louisiana has no shortage of outdoor adventures! With 21 State Parks and Preserves, outdoor enthusiasts have a wealth of recreational activities to choose from.  

Kayak down one of our many bayous or saddle up your horse and explore forests of pine and cypress.  

When you’re done exploring for the day, you can cozy up and watch a starry night sky like no other at one of Louisiana state park’s campsites and cabin rentals 

The Creole Nature Trail, one of only 150 designated scenic byways in the USA is a journey into one of America’s “Last Great Wildernesses” along the southwest coast with abundant wildlife, including over 400 bird species. This trail connects three wildlife refuges, Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge, Sabine National Wildlife Refuge and Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge. Kisatchie National Forest, located south of Alexandria, is another option for outdoor adventurers, with over 100 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.  

This Spring, hike along the winding Wild Azalea Trail for a view of the gorgeous azaleas. A new attraction has come to the Lake Charles area. Lake Area Adventures offer water adventure and make your dreams come true. They specialize in boat rentals, kayak rentals, and guided trips through the waterways of Lake Charles.
