The winter season is in progress at Lake Tahoe. We have 15 world-class ski resorts around the lake. The most popular ones for people staying on the south shore of Lake Tahoe are Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.
Heavenly is the largest ski resort on the west coast of America. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, visitors can enjoy snowmobiling, ice skating, sledding, sleigh rides, and general snow play for the whole family. The winter season starts in November and normally goes through April.
We normally receive over 400” of snow during the winter season and the average temperature is 40F. Driving in winter should not be a concern as the roads are cleared very quickly after each snowstorm.
