Discover astronomy with your family!
Are you fascinated by the exploits of the French astronaut Thomas Pesquet? Then head to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, the official center of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center located in Huntsville, north of Alabama. It is home to the world’s largest museum dedicated to space travel. The Saturn V lunar rocket, one of only three in the world, is displayed in three parts, so visitors can see the engines of each stage. The Apollo 16 capsule, a moon rock, space shuttle orbiters and solid rocket boosters are also on display! Breathtaking films are shown in IMAX or 3D theaters to complete the experience.
Unique, the center hosts a Space Camp: a short educational program for children, adults and families from around the world. A true astronaut training! Programs include the Family Space Camp and Adult Space Academy over a weekend, 5-day Space Camp for groups, and Space Camp for individual youth, ages 9-18.
Huntsville is a charming town founded in 1805 and is easily accessible by a 1.5-hour drive north of Birmingham, 2 hours from Nashville and 3.5 hours from Atlanta.
